Gwrandewch!

Gwrandewch! is a community arts group set up to provide original and alternative music and arts events in Ceredigion and surrounding areas

Gwrandwech! also organises alternative/experimental music events as “NAWR Aberystwyth”. These are held normally on the second Tuesday of the month at the Bank Vaults, New Street, Aberystwyth. These events are enabled by the support of Ty Cerdd, Arts Council of Wales, National Lottery and the Welsh Government.

Our first major event was an evening of collective music as part of Musicfest Aberystwyth and WOW Film Festival on 30/6/23. Specifically for the people of Ceredigion, an evening of contemporary music combining singers, musicians and participants from the area joined by some major Welsh players.

The evening consisted of a solo double bass piece “Fflam” by renowned composer and bassist, Ashley John Long. The premier of a structuralist film, “OPUS 133” by CLive Myer and music by Lyndon Owen, and Cornelius Cardew’s “The Great Learning: Paragraph 3”, performed by singers and double bass players from the local community.
